Calling all Guest Daters and Writers

Friends! I'm escaping life for two weeks in London and Paris.

I plan to walk down streets of Paris and pretend I'm Celine looking for my Jesse (Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight reference), or maybe I'll stroll down the cobblestone streets right around midnight hoping for Hemingway and the Fitzgeralds to pick me up and take for a 1920s cocktail (Midnight in Paris reference).

I would love to have some posts for when I'm gone. Maybe you had an awesome or creep-o date that you'd like to capture for eternity in the 100FD questionnaire

Or you have an idea about something else and want to share it with us. All dating/love/relationship topics are welcome, just keep the piece to around 250 words, and email it to

Au revoir!

Guest Dater: Jo's Cosmic Date

100FD Questionnaire

How did you meet?

Name: Zach

Height: 5'11"

Age: 28

Occupation: Athletic trainer for pro baseball team

Good quotes from date:

Him: "I'm just so much smarter than most other people."

In response to me telling him that my workplace is full of women, some of whom are lesbians...

Him: " Have you ever caught any of them getting it on at work?"

Me: "No"

Him: "Oh they are, trust me they are."

Why is he single?

Kind of like an overexcited puppy

Did he pay for the date? Yes

Did he contact you after the date? No, wasn't expecting him to.

How many dates did you go on? 1

Would you recommend him to a friend? Maybe one in her early to mid-20's.

I was actually pretty excited to meet this guy. He is several years younger than me, but seemed to have great energy when we talked on the phone. I'm not sure where that energy and fun went. We went cosmic ice skating, his idea, and we were the only ones there over the age of 14. I was pretty amused watching the pre-teens all night. He was about 10 min late, but he called to let me know he was almost there.

In addition to the quotes above, he talked about money almost the entire night, what his salary is currently, what it has been EVERY year previously, what the players make on his team, what everyone else makes, what he pays monthly for his mortgage, and on and on. Dude, I don't care! Please stop. We had an uncomfortable hug goodbye at my car, and that was that. Oh, and regarding the smart comment, it took all of my restraint not to tell him that he was severly underestimating the people I know!

Love your blog! Jo

Thanks Jo! I love you for sharing this date. I'm not sure which is worse - talking about lesbians in a derogatory way or talking about money all night. This guy sounds like he needs to grow up a bit and to learn to plan a first date activity where there are no kids allowed. (I had to google cosmic ice skating. Probably because I'm over age 14).

Guest Dater: Denise's Passionless V-Day

100FD Questionnaire

How did you meet?

On a dating site (, we were both single for Valentine's Day last year, so I thought, why not?

Name: Ronnie

Height: 5" 10"

Age: 33

Occupation: Massage therapist

Good quotes from date:

Him: "Most women are worried when they find out they're getting a male masseur, but when they see me…they're happy".

Me: "Why, because you look gay?"

Why is he still single?

Most likely the massive ego.

Did he pay for the date?

We paid separately, which was fine with me.

Did he contact you after the date?

He sent a text a few hours after our date, offering to come over and make my Valentine's Day complete. I sent him a photo of my Grandmother asleep on the couch as a response. Never heard back from him after that.

How many dates did you go on? One.

Would you recommend to a friend? Only if I was mad at them.

I've actually had quite a few fun dates through online dating sites, but not every date is going to be a winner. This guy caught me on a pretty feisty day. Usually I wouldn't have been quite so direct with my dislike for him, but then again maybe he needed to be sent a little "hint" that his romancing techniques are a bit…off.

Hahaha! I just burst out laughing at your retort to his quote. I can't believe you passed up the opportunity to be massaged by an expert on Valentine's Day. Oh wait, yes I can. I've never heard of, but it seems like it doesn't live up to its name. Thanks for sharing!
