Comments:

Maybe he was nervous and wanted to impress me with his connections to local writers. However, I'm not in the local writer circle (or the worldwide one) so it wasn't an effective strategy.  Rich, who kept checking out my boobs and legs while chatting with me at the bar, seemed like an overall nice dude.

To be fair I dressed up for this date -  a low-cut tank and a pencil skirt. Less a wardrobe choice and more the reality of the 1,000 degree weather, where wearing anything more than a naked suit made you melt.

Rich kept up a good conversation, he was smart and quick witted, and I left with a good summer reading list of local (of course) authors.

The main problem with this date was his effeminate qualities. As I asked my friend afterwards - why is everyone in NY gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) or fake gay? I just wasn't attracted to him.

At this point in the game I don't chastise myself for feeling this way, it all comes down to biology and that's not a battle I'm going to win. If my loins want a manly man - even when I'm in a skirt, tank, and heels - then a manly man I must find.
